My Approach

There is no “one size fits all” approach when it comes to therapy. Each treatment plan is carefully and collaboratively crafted after assessment. I take a holistic “whole-person” approach to therapy considering your upbringing, environment, mind, and body when considering a treatment modality. As a proud Jamaican-American, cultural sensitivity is at the forefront of my work.

As your therapist, I will work with you to replace negative patterns of thinking with positive action-based thoughts. Common theoretical frameworks I pull from include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), mindfulness and somatic therapies, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I help my clients gain an understanding of how their experiences impact their emotions and decisions, learn healthy ways to cope with anxiety, trauma, depression, and grief and feel more control over the direction of their lives.

 

As your therapist and ally, I will help empower you to connect to your inner wisdom, understand how your experiences impact your emotions and decisions, all while helping you live a fulfilling life. Throughout the process, I assist my clients in gaining clarity while finding solutions to the challenges they may face along their journey.

My approach is focused on changing thought patterns by creating new thoughts that enable you to take action towards achieving your desired results. I work closely with you to address your needs and desires to facilitate change early on in the therapy process, while providing you with continued support, compassion, and accountability.
